You may eventually get to a point where you find that you must leave. Your life or your children's lives may be threatened. It is important to make a plan ahead of time so that you can get out safely.

Your Plan Should Include:
- Keep an extra set of clothes, toiletries, and necessary medications for yourself and your children hidden somewhere safely.
- Keep an extra set of house and car keys hidden somewhere safe so you can leave quickly.
- In a safe place, keep identification for yourself and children, such as birth certificates, social security cards, driver's license, and other important documents.
- Take appointment books, calendars, address books, etc. Hide or destroy anything that might give him a clue as to where you might go.
- You can also pack a bag with clothes, important papers, and extra keys and store it at a friend's or neighbor's house.
- Call 911 if you are in immediate danger.
- Contact a local shelter.
