How to Build Self-Esteem (for YOU and your Child!)
Self-esteem is important for everyone!!! (Not just your kids, but moms too!)
How can moms maintain a healthy level of self-esteem for themselves?
What can parents do to build their child’s self-esteem?
- Realistic goals for both parents and children
- Hugs go a long way!!!
- Set aside special time for your child and ensure they know this time is theirs and will be uninterrupted.
- Provide choices to your child (allows more control, empowers them, & helps with problem-solving skills)
- Be critical of the child’s “choice” or ‘behavior,” not the child.
- Make sure to highlight your child’s strengths.
- This also helps them learn that they can ask for help as well

- By building up the self-esteem of their kids. If their kids are thriving its because the mom is investing a lot of effort into being a mom. She can be proud of her children and proud of her effort.
- Take time to think about personal strengths and achievements. Too much time is typically spent focusing on the negative.
What can parents do to build their child’s self-esteem?
- Celebrate your child’s achievements – they will gain confidence as they persevere.
- Be careful of what you say and how you say it – It’s all about communication!
- Set a good example for your kids
