Warning Signs:
Am I in an Abusive Relationship?
Go through each of these behaviors and decide if they are "true" or "false" when it comes to your relationship. The more behaviors you have that are "true," the more dangerous your situation may be:
- I am frightened by my partner's temper.
- I find myself being criticized daily for things such as my cooking, clothes, and appearance.
- I am humiliated by name calling, put downs and accusations.
- My partner makes threats to withhold money, take the children or have an affair.
- I have been forced or pressured into having sex.
- I have been kicked, hit, shoved, or had things thrown at me by my partner.
- I have been stopped from seeing family and friends.
- I make excuses to myself and to my friends for his behavior.
- My partner keeps weapons around the house and threatens me with them.
- I feel isolated and alone.
